11wk old English Springer Spaniel biting

by Orla
(West Sussex)

My dog is an 11wk old springer spaniel and has buddles of energy as expected, we give him plenty of chew toys to keep him occupied but whenever we walk past him, he chews and bites at our legs.

Whenever we go to stroke him, he constantly wants to bite, getting harder and harder each time. I think he thinks it's some sort of game, but my worry is that it hurts already and he won't listen when you tell him 'NO' or 'ENOUGH' any ideas? Please!

Hi there
This is ver common in puppies, its just like a toddler hitting you to get attention. You have to teach them that bad behaviour gets nothing.

I do this by shout aaaiiiiyyyyyeeeeee when he does it, get up turn your back and walk away, no eye contact.

Hope this helps

One Boss
by: Anonymous

We found with our's that only one of us in our house could and should be the boss! ( 3 adults). My son took the rolw as he is tall and had a sturn voice, he also used his baseball cap as the threat. This only got used a couple of times across his bottom. Now he only as to scratch his head and he will calm down. He is 3 next month and is the best dog you could wish for. Good luck and don't give up.

Small biting
by: Anonymous

If he persists on biting u a small tap on the backside and no will reduce the biting in a big amount , and if your dog is a kennel dog and howels all the time throw a small pale of water over him ,raise voice when bad behaviour kicks in , hope this helps as has done many of times for myself
