12 week old springer spaniel weight ? Please help !

by Andrew

Hi I made a huge mistake when I misread the beta puppy food feeding guidelines and ended up feeding my 11 week old female English springer spaniel pup 3 times as much as she should have got a day for about 3 - 4 days, about 4 - 6 days ago when I weighed her she weighed 4 - 4.2 kg, I have now cut back the food to the correct amount and she is 12 weeks old and now weighs 4.8 - 5 kg, is this a normal weight for her age and gender. PLEASE HELP STRESSING OUT !

Hi there
You need to be able to just feel her ribs through her coat, only just though. If she has put on weight, she will loose it quickly young springers always do so don't stess.

Don't stress NEW

I have a 6 month old and I think that was about the weight she was at that time. Remember that they are all different and as long as they are growing, playing, eating, drinking, pooping, peeing.....most likely all is well. They are very resilient and can recover from most small mishaps us owners make! Other signs of adequate nutrition are a shiny coat, bright eyes, moist mouth, and light pink skin under that fur. Springers are very active and the extra calories yours got can easily be burned off with all the playing they do! Relax!
