13 year old springer spaniel having joint problems
My springer spaniel is 13 years old and has started to fall over a lot with his back legs occasionally giving way. He also seems to be having trouble getting up and down from his bed especially first thing in the morning. I think that this may have something to do with joint problems due to his age, is there anything i can do to help him? From Anna@love-springer-spaniels.com Hi there Yes there is alot you can do. Springers are very prone to joint problems as they get older because they have been so active throughout their lives. You can give them supplements to help their joints, check out my Springer Spaniel Supplements Guide. Also try and keep their weight down, I have a guide to Managing the weight of an overweight Springer Spaniel. Try to keep them exercising, swimming is best for joint issues as they are not weight bearing but they are moving which is really important. Hope that helps and let us know how you get on.
