14 Month old Springer and strangers

We have a lovely 14 month old boy Springer, we have had him since 8 weeks and he is a joy, well behaved and loving but when in the park if a stranger walks pass he will run up to them and nip them , he doesn't take any notice of people with dogs just people on their own he is not aggressive (yet) but i'am concerned.

Wonder what the reason is? NEW
by: Steve

Can you think back to determine what the underlying reason might be? Is there any pattern to it such as people in coats or men only?

Firstly I would recommend beefing up your recall by reading Total Recall by Pippa Mattinson, so you can call your springy back when he is outbound to a stranger.

Secondly I would try to figure out the root cause and deal with that through positive methods. Something must have happened to make your dog like this.

You might want to seek some help as this could get to the point that the dog could bite (which he is) and cause damage. Tihis could lead to your dog being destroyed and a legal issue. Try looking at the trainers on The Gundog Club site (assuming you are in the UK).
