2y Springer Suddenly Refuses to do Toilet Before Bed

by Delboy
(UK)

I have a female Springer who has been neutered and is coming up on 2 years, who is a great dog other than pulling on the lead (great tips on this website I will try).

Until now like clockwork we will let her out for the toilet just before we go to bed and she would happily do her thing, however, she is now refusing to do anything at bed time and will not let herself leave my side. During the day she is here usual self, but from tea time onward she will not go after dinner/evening walk so we are talking about 6h of nothing before bed, and then still nothing. When we go to bed and she will then whine (which is new) as she clearly needs to go then when we let her out she will eventually do the toilet and go to sleep.

Any advice? It is frustrating as until recently we had a good routine but for some reason she is no longer following it.

Betime toilet trip NEW
by: Anonymous

Try taking your dog out around the block on leash before you go to bed, but rather than take him/her through the house, take them striaght into the garden whilst you go through the house then once your dog has toiletted then let him/her in. This is how i do bedtime toilet trips as my 2yr old ess started to skip bedtime toilet trips so we found that the easiest way to do this was by giving him a short walk before bed, hope this helps
