Champion (Champ) the Springer Spaneil

by Jeff Marsh
(Cedar Falls, IA)

Champ is eight years old, retired from hunting (very short career) and now hold's down the fort with his side-kick Layla (cavachon).

He has become very protective of the property in his later years; he likes to let us know when someone is approaching (or just walking by!)

I was always told by vetrenarians that he was the calmest Springer they had seen and that he was very well-mannered. He was a good listener but would become very anxious in any foreign setting.

Champ keeps the kids entertained with his bag of tricks and constant need for attention! He's famous for getting 'beverages' out of the fridge! All around amazing dog...can't wait to get him a little Springer friend to train and pass on his traits!

He is cute! The last line of your comment made me literally laugh out loud! We had that same idea 3 years ago. Our oldest Springer was 9 at the time and we thought we'd get a younger one for her to train. We got a 10 month old Springer, but the training worked opposite. The younger Springer taught our older Springer all kids of new tricks. Such as; counter surfing, tormenting the cat and begging! Didn't work out as we planned, but we still love them!
