My Springer Spaniel will let me wipe his ears out brush his ears etc, but when I try to put drops in he is very aggresive.

I have to muzzle him but he still struggles and trys to bite. Please can any one help, we have only had him since December and he was a rescue sniffer dog aged nearly 3, my other 2 I have had from pups are great they lie flat out for me to do it no problem at all, I suppose as I have done it since they where pups they are used to it, Lyn

Hi Lyn, perhaps this is something you hae to try on a regular basis to de-senstize him. I would say do it after a walk so he is tired, and also reward him with his favorite treats and toys afterwards

thank you for your good advice, sadly monty had to go to a new home, the man was willing to work with him, he now lives by the sea, my other 2 dogs where getting badly affected by his aggesion, so it was not fair to them as i had them since pups, it was a sad lesson to be learnt about rescue dogs,I know the majority are wonderfull, but this time it was not.We gave him a good chance but he drew blood on me and it got to the stage i felt afraid in my own house as he would just turn with no warning, this person knows about him so hope he gets a one to one he may be needs

Ear Drop Trick
by: Anonymous

My pup wouldn't let me put ear drops in either. He would squirm and wriggle and do anything to get away. Like yours, he was however, happy enough to let me wipe them out, and even likes that.
So now, I put the eardrops on a cotton ball, enough so it is almost saturated. He will let me put that in his ear, and squeeze, kind of wring it out in his ear, so the drops do get in. This isn't great for medical drops that require an exact measurement, but for us, it is better than nothing.
