How to stop my 11 month old Springer Spaniel from tearing up the carpet?

I have an 11 month old Springer Spaniel who never destroyed anything and now she is suddenly tearing up the carpet. I work 8 hours a day and so does my husband. I have bought her the kong toy to fill with treats and a treat puzzle cube and she figures them out so quickly and still gets bored. I walk her for 30 minutes before I leave and she runs and plays off leash in the yard with the landlord's two dobermans before that. I don't know what else to do.

Leaving your dog.

I know it's difficult when you have to work full-time (I do so I can sympathise) but 8 hours is too long to leave your dog. Could a friend or family member perhaps let your dog out after 4 hours, play with her and give her some company for a hour? If not it is worth looking into a dog walker.

hello

springers enjoy company and like you have found out, are intelligent are get bored easy. 8 hours is a long time to be left to your own devices and carpets are so much more fun than kongs..

I would suggest looking into a doggy walker to break up ur doggies day, an hours walk to break up the day may just do the trick.

I hate to say it, knowing how hard you both work, but maybe your springer needs a long walk or run before you leave for work. It would get rid of some of the energy. Also, she is in the puppy stage. It won't always be like this (then you can get new carpet)!
