Introducing a new pup to an older female Springer Spaniel

Hello Fellow Springer Fans,

I have the pleasure of sharing my home and family with a much loved and beautiful 8 year old female Springer Spaniel called Pip. Pip is our 4th Springer and I have come to learn over the past 20 years that each dog is different and has its own little ways. Much like us humans!

I have been considering introducing a new pup to the family for some time now but if I am honest I am a little apprehensive as Pip is quite jealous if I show the family cat the slightest attention. I am worried that she will not be able to cope with a new pup on the scene and that life will be quite unbearable. Has anyone experienced this situation before? If I'm honest it is putting me off having another pup and we have always had 2 dogs. Pip has a tendency to be quite bossy (and snappy) around other dogs regardless of their size. She very much bossed our last dog from the day she arrived as a pup herself and he was 9 yrs (RIP), but fortunately he took it all very well.

Any advice greatly appreciated..

Thanks
Carolyn
