I hope you were able to keep Jake, but I certainly understand the pressure of dealing with a dog. Our beautiful Maggie is 10 months old and has been very good about not chewing anything indoors, but outside, she eats bark off trees; ripped branches off pine trees; eats stones; loves pine cones and tearing apart our Hosta plants. Indoors, she wants to play most of the time, but has learned to lay down and sleep on command. We love Maggie very much, but at times, dealing with a dog who loves attention most of the time, gets a bit much. My biggest challenge has been walking Maggie, as she pulls hard. I've tried a harness; several collars and the only collar that works is a pinch collar. Instead of walking her, I place a stuffed animal on fishing line that is threaded through a fishing pole. Maggie runs around in attempts to catch the stuffed animal and tires herself out. She has learned to leap and judge her gait so she can catch the animal. I laugh a lot as she runs around the yard. Thanks to Victoria Stilwell for her idea about the fishing pole. Nancy fom Michign

Jake by: Betsy Kiehl
Your Jake is one beautiful springer. Don't give up on him. There are always reasons for their "madness", and frankly, that is part of the springer charm. Our 1st spaniel, Charlie, (passed away 3 months ago) once tore the plasterboard off of our living room wall (by the front door) in an effort to get out of the house (we were gone shopping...we figure whe wanted to be with us, was upset, and tried to get out of the house to come find us. She only did that once. Normally, the springer is loyal and wants to please you, as was ours. Now, we have a 3 month old springer, and she listens well.

Hi Rod
I can see just why you are putting up with all the destruction. Lets hope he calms down soon.
