Keeping your springer close cut or shaved

by Chris M
(Minnesota)

If you keep your spring shaved, how much will that reduce the shedding?

Thanks
Chris

Shedding will be less as the hair that sheds will be shorter but you cannot stop them shedding altogether I am afraid

Shedding
by: Anonymous

I keep Sadie's coat short and she does not shed at all. I grew up with two springers and both had much longer hair than Sadie's, both shed regularly, even with routine grooming. Now, my golden retriever, on the other hand, sheds like a long-haired cat in the summer.

I have two Springers, I keep their coats short. The have a monthly trip to the spa, they get the works. Their shedding is minimal, keeps the ears from getting smelly (I do clean them once a week as well)and their hair does not get matted. They are still cheaper than my kids.lol hope this helps!

close cut or shaved

We keep ours groomed every 8 weeks, but there is still hair!! Sammy has a regular springer skirt - which is kinda sparce, and Cassy is given a "mini-skirt" (she comes by that naturally-she's a diva springer!) because her coat catches burrs, twigs, and anything else when going through through the bushes!!

Our friend, who has Darcy, the sprocker, gets him shaved. He is soooo cute!

Both my Springers maintain short hair. One rarely sheds, the other is a non-stop shedder!
