Mouthing Springer Spaniel

by Karen
(Bilston)

My 15 week Bailey is mouthing/biting our hands and feet still.

I was wondering when he would stop this behaviour as its driving us mad especially my 12 year old.

We tap his nose and say no firmly or we yelp. He also has a habit of barking at me when I tell him off, any advice is gratefully received.

Karen.

Hi there
This is classic puppy biting, as they explore their world and a perfectly normal behaviour. However you do need to correct this now to stop any issues forming in the future.

The key is to completely ignore them when they do this. Yelp get up and walk away so they associate this behaviour with loosing attention. keep this up and they will learn to stop.

Good luck

hi
normal puppy behaviour,we had this from our 9 puppies,a stern raised NO or ouch did the trick,
Your puppy might be confused with the tap on the nose could be mistaken and seen as a form of aggression as the dog matures..
When our puppies jumped up to say hello we always used no or ouch,
best of luck..
