Murphy the English Springer Spaniel

Our handsome boy

Our handsome boy

Murphy is 5months old and is full of mischief, he is always getting up to no good, have had to throw out 3 pairs of shoes as he took a liking to them, even when you are there in the room he just goes ahead.

His only major problem is if you are out with him and let him of the lead, trying to get him back on the lead is a nightmare he just keeps running around when you go to get him, one of the times my husband had him out he decided to just race about when my husband went to get him on the lead, then proceeded to run through all the mud needless to hubby was not amused as both needed a shower when they came home.

But we would not change him for the world as we both love him to bits, he is so entertaing. He also likes to sleep on your head not right on it just above it, if you are sitting on the chair he jumps up and drapes himself around you like a scarf.

He also takes crazy turns and just runs from one sofa to another just wondering if any of the habits I mentioned are normal to that breed?

If we leave him for a couple of hours he is fine he does not do anything as everything is as we left it apart from locking himself in the utility room or toilet, because we had heard that they did not like being on their own. We were used to leaving our dogs for few hours they were german sheperds so getting Murphy was a big change but a good one we are only sorry we did not get a springer spaniel before; we dont regret having german sheperds, we just find it much more relaxed and more enjoyable going out with him and not getting pulled of your feet, hope you like our handsome boy.......

I am Maggie's mom. I provide many toys for Maggie. She loves stuffed animals and is happy to chew them instead of getting in to mischief. I go to resale shops to buy her toys; wash them in my washing machine; dry them and they are ready for play. Maggie loves to place her mouth on a stuffed animal, then hug the animal, moving her paws like small hands and fingers.

Maggie use to sit on my head whenever she wanted to go outside to the bathroom. She is 10 months now and no longer sits on my head.

Maggie does play bite and I'm wondering if playing with so many stuffed animals has taught her to play bite.

My husband and I have left Maggie alone for about three hours each day. We started doing so after Maggie turned six or seven months old. She sits on " her" chair and watches out our front window, or she goes to our bed to sleep.

Enjoy your new puppy. This breed is very entertaining. Nancy from Michigan

Sweet Murphy
by: June

Murphy is an absolute doll. My Emma is 16 months old and I leave her alone all day. We get up at 5:30 every morning, we walk and play and I leave at 7:30. When I get home at 5:30 in the evening, she is ready to go. She never bothers anything. I open the curtain behind the couch so she can look out....last night when I got home, she was looking out the window waiting for me. I leave the tv on for her. She loves the Disney Channel, I think it is the music that she likes. Give Murphy a kiss from Emma!!
