My 10 month old male Springer Spaniel

I have 2 problems with paddy my springer and pride and joy he is 10 months old

1/ I find it difficult getting him to come to me on recall he tends to come back short a few yards away when i approach he bolts the opposite direction it is also difficult puttinmg him back on his leash to leave the park.

2/he seems to shred his toys when he retieves them tennis balls and even his canvass dummy.

I am desperate to right these faults in him as it is very frustrating can u help...thanks shaun

I would also recall him numerous times throughout the walk, touch his collar and let him go again, then he wont always associate a recall with going on the lead and going home.

They also learn quite quickly if you always put them on the lead in the same spot so vary where you are when you put the lead.

hi go back to putting the lead on and call his name and the word come and give a tug and a point of intrest something in your hand then make this a game every time you call gradually extend the laed and then no laed in the house progres to the yard same thing then no laed youl find this works every time 39 years of dog training all the beat carl

Our springer is 3 1/2 years old and does exactly the same! I think that's just Springers, but if you reward them with a treat (biscuit) when they come back to go on the lead then they get better at that!
