My first springer spaniel
First of all, just want to say how amazing this site is and I now feel a little more confident about raising my springer!
I've only had Oscar 2 days,he is twelve weeks but he only got his first injections today and the vet told us to keep him confined for another 4 weeks until he gets his booster, so this means no walking or letting him round around grassy parts of the garden for fear of him catching parvo! Im scared he's going to become frustrated and bored, any tips?
And one other thing, on average how long does it take to housebreak a springer puppy as oscar was kept outside and he isn't used to being in a home environment.
From Anna@love-springer-spaniels.com Hi there, thanks for the feedback on my site, I am working very hard to upgrade it at the momment so a new look will be coming soon.
Welcome to the world of Springer Love, you are entering a life of fun, frolics and unconditional love.
Best thing to do to stop your pup getting frustrated is to play with him. He is just like a child, play is so important to him right now. It will tire him out and reinforce the bond between you both. Also once you have had a play session have a 10 min training session, do that 3-6 times a day and you will reap the benefits in the future.
As for house training him, it varies but if you are consistent with reinforcing positive praise when he does is right it will come. Springers love to please.
Good luck and don't forget to send us pictures
