My Spinger Spaniel isTerrified
by Aaran Bradley
I bought Annie a few days ago from a couple who were trying to train her as a gun dog. They were getting rid of her as she "wasnt up to it" and they felt she'd be better suited as a pet.
I still want to train Annie but she is petrified of cars, the dark and doesnt really like males. I think she may have been hit, I hope I can help her as she is only 18 weeks old. From Anna@love-springer-spaniels.com
it sounds like she has not had the best start in life, I think your best course of action is to get her to trust you first in a safe place such as her new home.
Do this through gentle play, a gentle tone, getting down on her level and making sure she comes to you. Plenty of praise and treats needed here. Hopefully this will build up her confidence and trust in you over time
Then enrole her in puppy classes to get her socialising and build up her confidence with new things from there.
This will take time and effort but it will work with patience and a gentle approach. Good luck and you are doing a great thing. You will reap the rewards as she will give so much back to youReturn to Love Springer Spaniels FAQsReturn to Love Springer Spaniels Homepage
