My springer won't leave me alone




I have a beautiful 1 year old springer. He is a lovely boy but he follows me everywhere and is unsettled unless he can see me. How can I encourage him that it is ok to be alone for a little while? He knows that if I leave him in the sitting room with the door closed and he hears the front door close that he is ok and I will return but if I just leave the room or go anywhere for a short period he has to follow.

My 14 month old, Bob is just the same.
Everywhere i go he is there, even if he is fast asleep and i leave the room, he gets up and follows me. The thing is with mine, he cries when i leave him to go to work.

its a well known fact springers are loyal and tentative to there owners our paddy is the same he never leaves my side...most springers have these trates i love for this and are perhaps the most loyal dog you can have.....they stick like velcro bless em

Our Ruby is the same way. She's sleeping at my feet while I type this. :) But we do leave her at home alone. When we leave, we tell her (window), she jumps on the couch looking out the window watching us leave. She seems to understand, no barking or crying. Yes she is a shadow to me when I come home from work. Ruby is a great fur friend.

We have Sammy, a gorgeous black & white male, 5 1/2 yrs old. Sammy is the same way. Not in your face, but just always nearby. Follows me all the time - home office, laundry (likes to get in the dryer to sleep), anywhere I go, he wants to be near! That's just his way. We also have Cassy - Cassy couldn't be bothered!! She just wants to get her beauty sleep!!
