My springer won't leave me alone

I have a beautiful 1 year old springer. He is a lovely boy but he follows me everywhere and is unsettled unless he can see me. How can I encourage him that it is ok to be alone for a little while? He knows that if I leave him in the sitting room with the door closed and he hears the front door close that he is ok and I will return but if I just leave the room or go anywhere for a short period he has to follow.

Springer is stuck to my face! NEW
by: Sara

Hi guys, my 10 month old springer will just not leave me alone. He has to follow me everywhere in the house. He is absolutely fine when I go to work and will take his dentastick up on the stairs and settle down. However when I get back his stuck to me like glue. I can't have a shower without his little head resting on the bath watching me, I can't go to the loo without him, and when I shut him out the bedroom at night he actually sleeps up the door! As soon as opened on a morning by hubby or kids booooom he lies literally on my face! Doesn't do this to anyone else in the house just me. If hubby comes anywhere near me on the sofa he wriggles his way in between us. We are not allowed to cuddle, kiss or hold hands!!!
Don't get me wrong I love that little black and white hurricane with all my heart but it's like having a little doggy Siamese twin!

My 14 month old, Bob is just the same.
Everywhere i go he is there, even if he is fast asleep and i leave the room, he gets up and follows me. The thing is with mine, he cries when i leave him to go to work.

Its just too much love
by: Gary

Our Ruby is the same way. She's sleeping at my feet while I type this. :) But we do leave her at home alone. When we leave, we tell her (window), she jumps on the couch looking out the window watching us leave. She seems to understand, no barking or crying. Yes she is a shadow to me when I come home from work. Ruby is a great fur friend.

won't leave me alone
by: Estie

We have Sammy, a gorgeous black & white male, 5 1/2 yrs old. Sammy is the same way. Not in your face, but just always nearby. Follows me all the time - home office, laundry (likes to get in the dryer to sleep), anywhere I go, he wants to be near! That's just his way. We also have Cassy - Cassy couldn't be bothered!! She just wants to get her beauty sleep!!
