Poppy the Springer Spaniel Puppy
by Raymond J
Poppy is now 15 wks. old, we took her home when she was 9 wks. old and she is such fun.
She is our first Springer, we have had a Labrador, and 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels,so as they say a change is as good as a rest we thought we would go for a Springer, and a REST is the last thing we are getting,Poppy is up and about from 6 am. until around 9 pm. She goes for 3 short walks a day and plays in the garden or sleeps the rest of the time in her bed in the kitchen, we have it within a cage (don't like that word) as she is not caged in, with a blanket over it and the door open it is more like a den for her.
We do close the door on it when we are both out of the house for short periods so we have not had much things chewed within the house, the garden is another matter, not a plant left untouched, but to be fair she has dug a few holes for us to plant more if we want, she is so thoughtfull).
Poppy is banned from the living room she kept going under the sofa 's or between them and the wall and we were unsure if she would get hurt in the process of getting her back out or what she was up to (Chewing etc.), just a temp. measure till she is too big to do this.
The training is coming on, no accidents in the house ( she asks out by going to the door or if we dont notice she gives a little bark), she will sit ,give a paw or lie down on command or with a hand signal and a little treat is given to her most, but not all of these times, she is still unsure round other people when out for a walk but soon bounds to them once she is over the inital shock of seeing someone new.
The big test will be in a few weeks time when some of the family arrive to stay for a few days our eldest Grandson Jack (4) will have a great time as they have never met before but he has seen her via the web cam. he can't wait to help Granda take her a walk.
As you can see she is such a clever girl having mastered the laptop on her first day with us.Return to Your Springer SpanielsReturn to Love Springer Spaniels Homepage
