Springer Pup Refuses to go out for a walk

I have trouble getting my springer to come out for a walk. We just got a springer puppy 2 weeks ago and she is now 10 weeks old. We asked the breeder if we should be starting to walk her and were told that we should. She refuses, sits and pulls to go back in the house. The breeder told us to be persistent which we tried and that means dragging her around the block, it does not help plus I am not willing to continue to do this. We have now taken a break with the walking, any suggestions? Is it to young to expect her to walk and have we now made it much worse by making her go when she was not willing.

Thanks for the tips, she is walking really well now. Somedays she is still a little hesitant but all in all it is going well. I started with lots of treats and then I did start walking a couple days a week with a friend who also had a dog.

My Springer puppy was the same. It's a new world outside and they can be a bit scared. We started with a small walk and plenty of treats. She will like her walks once she builds up confidence - she is still a baby.

Why not practise in the house & in the garden. Make the lead/harness a game/fun.

Perhaps you have a neighbor with a dog. Walking together might help. We live in the county. No noise. Just nature. Are you using a harness around the chestR type? Our Ruby loves walks.
