Springer Spaniel biting
Pippa is 8 months old, we have had her since she was 8 weeks.
She is clearly a clever dog and can respond to all the usual commands.
However, she jumps and bites.
I have 2 children (4 and 5) so I am worried about her jumping and biting them in the face. She ripped my shirt 2 days ago by doing this and got my husband in the eye yesterday.
Obviously we can't tolerate this behaviour due to the risk to the children but I am desparate to keep her if we can change her behaviour.
We walk her twice a day for 40mins to an hour, she is in her run for about 4 hours a day, she has toys, eats high quality food etc etc. She is a fantastic pet for about 90% of the time but lets herself down with the biting, jumping over the (re-inforced)garden fence to get to rabbits and not responding to "come" when she has a scent (she does respond most of the time).
We have seen a behaviour specialist and attend weekly training school and have tried just about everything we have been told but we just can't get her to stop biting.
Please help as I really want to keep her.Return to Love Springer Spaniels FAQsReturn to Love Springer Spaniels Homepage
