Springer Spaniel Fur turning an odd color

Why would my springer's white fur on her paws and belly be turning a pinkish, cream color, also around her snout. Other areas are still a good white color. She is 15 years old.

Hi there
This is not uncommon in older dogs, Mungo who is the same age had pink spots, its usually dicolouration of the skin, but if you are really concerned or it looks like its irritating her you may want to get the vet to check it out.

This could be yeast
by: Pamela

While many white dogs get discoloration around their eyes and paws, especially as they grow older, I have found in my two last dogs that it is not necessarily normal. I noticed my young female began to get discoloration as she was chewing her paws and shaking her ears. A culture from her ears revealed yeast (fungus) and I began to do copious research. Is your dog chewing his/her paws? Does s/he chew at her rear? Many dog products these days are chalked full of sugar or carbs with a high glycemic (sugar conversion) index. Watch especially for potato, pea starch, tapioca, molasses, sweet potato. Some dogs (and many springers) get systemic yeast and it shows up in a pinkish/brownish discoloration on the paws, the mouth, and the rear area. Check your dogs ears to be sure there isn't a brownish, yeasty smelling grime building up. I have a solution that is not a vet-prescribed product if there is an ear infection. Most vet prescribed products have deafness as a side effect, that wasn't acceptable to me. K9 Ear Solution, out of the US, is a miracle product! Good luck to you.
