Springer Spaniel growling

by Katy

Help! My nearly two year old springer spaniel dog has started growling when I go anywhere near him whilst he's eating.

My partner and I have removed his dish when this happens and he still continues to do this. My dog does look at my partner as alpha male but hes now growling at me for no apparent reason. I realise this is a dominance issue but when he growls it scares me. I don't know what way is best to deal with this.

Hi there
Try growling back and staring him down, he is challenging you and you have to respod. You may also want to get him neutered if he is not already.

Check out the following links and let us know how you get on. Good Luck

hi as we all know springers are the best and can be the worst, this is one time that he/she needs to know where they are in the pack, its and old thing but if he growls at you when there eating you husband/partner needs to take the food awaybeing alpha male from the dog pretend to eat from his bowl and then hand it to you as the alpha female, so you can pretend to eat from his bowl, this shows the dog that you are a higher status than them,do this till the growling stops it will take time but it will do you dog good to know where he/she is in the pack
