Springer Spaniel Names

What's behind the Springer Spaniel Names we give our beloved dogs? That exciting day when you pick up your puppy and you have to decide the name to give him.

George was never going to be named George. Our household's favorite play is the Importance of Being Earnest and we had always planned on naming our dogs after the characters from this beloved book. So Bumbury was on the list for our first springer.

Naming your Springer Spaniel Puppy So off we went to the breeder to pick Bumbury out. Then as we walked in their door, a little pup called George ran up to us. "Why do you call him George?" I asked the breeder - who was breeding the pups for working. He replied "because, like the character George from Blackadder, he is very enthusiastic but utterly useless." It made us fall in love with him, and so the name has stuck.

Bumbury will have to wait for our next Springer Spaniel.
