Springer Spaniel on a diet !

I have been told my dog is overweight by about 2 kilos. I work him during the shooting season ( beating & rough shooting). So hopefully he will drop weight then. Do you think I should panic now?

Hi there
No need to panic, therea re a few things you can do now to help. Switch to a food for overweight dogs, that will reduce his calorie intake and don't give him tit bits, if you have to give him some treats use things like pop corn.

Try looking at the guide for overweight springers
and of course keep up the regular exercise. As with us little changes go a long way. Good luck

Seasonal weight fluctuation is normal. I just reduce their food slightly and ensure they get their normal excersise, and an extra longer spell x2 a week. Dont panic, once they start 'working' again they will loose the extra weight.
