Springer Spaniel Season

by Emily
(Rotherham)

My springer is 19 months old, and although she showed all the signs of having a season 9 months ago, there was no blood or anything. I thought it could have been a silent one, but 9 months later there is no signs of a second season. Is there anything the vets can do to see if she has had one or not?

Seasons NEW

All dogs are different, some will exhibit some signs, others not. Some bitches (inc one of mine) do not bleed - or it is in such small amounts you dont notice it. This can be known as a silent season.
Take usual precautions as you would if she were in season as she is still very able to produce puppies. Paul.

re seasons
by: mistyborn spaniels

some girls 1st seasons can be a bit strange and not as they would normally be, there become swollen but not bleed! i wouldnt worry to much at the moment as some girls at first will have a yearly season, i no my mistys 1st season was at 11mths, then 23mths but after her 1st litter at 3yrs hers seasons are now every 8mths give or take! so you may find she wont have another season till shes 2yrs...
