Springer Spaniel waking early
by Lynn
(Glasgow, Scotland)
I have a 1.5 year old springer called Bailey. She sleeps in the kitchen. She always wakes up about 5.45am and starts scratching at the kitchen door. How do I stretch out her waking up time? I have tried to ignore her and she stops for 5 mins or so and starts again.
From Anna@love-springer-spaniels.com HI Lynn This is a tricky one, try putting a stair gate on the kitchen door so she can't get out but then she can't scratch at the door and ruin it.
Then I think it really is just a case of ignoring it. There is nothing wrong with her she wants to be with you but she has to learn that that happens on your terms not when she demands it. So roll over put in some earplugs and let her learn and important lesson, that you control the when and where of everything not her.
Good luck
