Springer Spaniel with a Sore Leg

by Vernon
(Great Britain)

My 9 month old Springer Spaniel has a sore on his back leg, (see pic). It looks a bit like Eczema, a little scab which is dry to the touch. He doesn’t bother with it during the day but it looks like he licks it at night.

We’ve been to the vet, they gave us cream which doesn’t help. We’ve also tried Otodex skin cream but no luck.

Has any one got ideas we could try before anther expensive tip to the vets, Many thanks.

Hi Vernon
This is pretty common in springers, they get sore joints from running and they lick lots causing this kind of irritating patches. What I find works well with George is to put a lampshade collar on him at night so he can't lick it and it breaks the licking itching cycle. It takes a few nights and you will see it getting better.

Hope that helps
