7 months and barking/growling NEW
by: Anonymous

Our 7 month old female springer started barking and growling after the dog down the street lunged at her with that behavior. It was leashed and there was no accrual contact, but she will now lunge at some people, and even growl. She is a very timid dog, sticks closely to me and does not allow others to pet her. Help!

collar NEW
by: Anonymous

We have the spray collar, used it when our springer would bite my son, Cant recommend it enough, was expensive, (£70) but worth every penny, when she has her mad moments when she tends to bite we put it on, The beep is suppose to mean "good" but as above, our springer takes it as a warning sound

Collar Training NEW
by: Anonymous

We had a problem with our female springer, she was VERY aggressive with our older collie cross. We'd tried a behaviourist (which had some positive impact), we changed her diet (lower grade than the collie), we tried pack hierarchy training.

As a last resort before rehoming we purchased a collar which is remotely operated control (beep, air blast, longer air blast). When she displayed any undesirable behaviour she got a beep FIRST if she continued then an air blast. 6 months on she's "fixed" a really, really happy doggy who plays like crazy spaniels do! Snuggles up to the collie now & has lost the red eye! She gets loads more cuddles & never has to be isolated or segregated.

NOTE I would NEVER condone a collar which gives electric shocks or harms a dog, we hardly use the air. Spaniels are intelligent but you need to show them the acceptable boundaries.

Agressive vs. jealous? NEW
by: Anonymous

I have two male springer spaniels that turned a year in march. They are from the same litter and have been fine up until a few months ago. The black and white has started growling at the liver and white like if he laying on our lap and his brother tries to jump up or if we try to get him to move off of a chair or the bed and he doesn't want to he will growl. He has not bitten...yet. Help!!
