Springer with Watery Eyes

My Springer Spaniel pup is nearly five months old, and seems to have very watery eyes. A lot of sleep seems to build up in them. Is this just something that happens with this breed. I know I minded an older Springer before for a couple of weeks and I remember hers were the same. This is my first Springer and just wanted to check if this is something I need to get checked out by the Vet?

Any time a health issue concerns you, you should visit the vet. Peace of mind means a lot!

That said, I have two Springers. One has the same watery eye problem you have described. I have had her checked by the vet and he said it can be a Springer trait. However, you should know water eyes (conjunctivitis) can also be a symptom of intestinal parasites, eye infection, allergies and other illnesses, so to be on the safe side I'd make an appointment with your vet.
