Tail chasing

by Melissa

My 8 month old springer spaniel will not stop chasing her un docked tail. She won't do it when we aren't around but as soon as me or my husband are with her she starts chasing her tail. I have tried everything to make her stop. Help!

Tail Chasing
by: Anonymous

Tail chasing is fairly normal behavior for dogs, particularly puppies. He / she likely doesn't even realize that tail is his!

As long as you have throughly checked him out to be sure he doesn't have fleas, a cut, inflamed anal glands, or any other abnormality, then I wouldn't worry about it. They normally grow out of this after a time. Be sure you have given him some toys to play with and encourage him to pay attention to those.
