Using Bones to Clean your Springer Spaniels Teeth
by Cathy

I find that giving my Welsh Springer boy a beef back rib from the butcher, uncooked, with the meat still attached keeps his teeth clean.
This is much nicer for him than anesthesia for cleaning. It is cheap, I get two or three at a time, and get away for way less than chews from the pet supply.
These bones keep your pup happy for over an hour at a time, knock the tarter off, and depending on how much meat is on, also can be part of a meal.
NEVER give a dog cooked bones!
For some reason, the shape of the rib bone gets my dogs teeth cleaner that the marrow bone. I think it reaches the molars better.
You might want to lay a towel on his bed to make clean up easier.
