Weight of a springer spaniel at 14 weeks old

by Daniela
(London)

Hello,

my puppy is 14 weeks old and I have been getting comments that he looks small for his age. He weighs in at 7 kg and I am feeding him Robbies Holistic diet, which recommends 20 gram per kilo bodyweight.

is he underweight?

From Anna@love-springer-spaniels.com
I think we shouldn't get too hung up on weight, springers like us vary in size. As long as he is eating and eating well if he is small he will catch up or remain a little pup. Alot of it is genetic how big was his mum and dad?

15 week puppy NEW
by: Colin Wilson

Our new puppy is now 15 weeks and weighs in at 9.2 Kg.
I was concerned as he doesnt seem to be gaining weight, but he eats all his food and gets some treats. Mind you he's
typical of Springers and burns it all up hairing around and chasing his sister.

Our litter pups all vary is size & build, yet they have all been fed the same. As everyone else has said, so long as your pup isnt hungry & looking for more, is happy and healthy, weight is immaterial.

Weight of springers
by: Barbara

Hi Daniela, my springer puppy is 15 weeks today and she is definitely no more than 5kg. I really wouldn't worry - my vet said that I am feeding her enough. She eats all her food and is full of life so I'm quite happy with her.
