What kind of dog is good with springer spaniel???

by Jake
(Pittsburgh PA USA)

I have a English Springer Spaniel, and we are talking about getting a 2nd dog for him to have a "playmate". He is very fast and would like to have a dog that can keep up with him.....

Please answer with what kind of dog. ( Has to be fast and can keep up)
Thank You.

Field Spaniel and Springer Spaniel buddies NEW
by: Anonymous

Our eight-month-old Springer lives with our two-year-old Field Spaniel. The Field has a higher energy level which is good, as it gets our bench Springer to engage in running, play and jumping. The Springer's lovely, laid-back personality helps our Field calm down.

if you are looking for a different breed a collie or welsh springer may be a good match but i recommend a brittany dog they are high energy like a springer but also have traits of other dogs such as setters that you may be looking for.

breeds good with springers NEW
by: Vanessa

We are getting an ESS puppy the end of January and are looking for another puppy as a playmate as well. I am considering a Golden Retriever as I've heard they are great family dogs. Do you think size and energy level would be comparable? Also, any warnings on having two puppies the same age? Double the trouble? :)

Papillon NEW
by: Jenni

We have a 4 year old springer, Lacey who needed a playmate. We decided on a papillon, which has also been referred to as a 'toy spaniel'. Even though Luna is only 4lbs now at 1year old, Lacey loves her to bits. Luna is so playful and has totally changed Lacey's quality of life. She's more playful and happier than ever.Lacey is so careful and sweet with Luna, and has never been aggressive towards her at all. Good luck!

What kind of dog is good with a springer spaniel???
by: Rhiannon

My spaniel gets on really well with our yorkshire terrior puppy! Considering the size difference its usually the spaniel trying to keep up with her! haha. I think big and small works just fine :) when they play they will soon keep up with each other!

springer
by: sarah

i would say another springer as u know what you are getting i have 2 and they get along perfectly they wear each other out and as they are the same breed they need the same kind of exercise where as if you maybe had a different breed it may need less ending up with one dog knackered lol and the springer still wanting to go go go :)

We have a 7 year old Springer boy and a 5 year old whippet/beagle/staff. Any of those three breeds would be a good match.

playmate for springer
by: Anonymous

I would personally say another springer but Thats because i had two. You could also go for a cocked spaniel but they seems to be a bit calmer. We do have one of the maddest breeds. What about a Labrador?
