Whats the best way to stop my 11 month old Springer Spaniel to stop pulling?

My 11month Springer Spaniel pulls on the lead badly. I have tried making her sit when she pulls and tugging at the lead. neither of these things have worked and I have recently tired changing direction and this doesn't seem to work either... Is there any other way to stop her from pulling? or do i have to keep up with what i'm doing?

She is also slightly shorter than most 11 month old Springers I see... However she was bred to be a gundog and came from working parents, I have heard this is normal for gundogs?

pulling on the lead NEW

I have a 2 year old Springer and the same pulling problem. I have tried a number of things which has included a gentle leader for the head, a nose harness. Both these made my poor dog very nervous and reluctant to go out. I have since bought a harness and it seems to work.

Apparently Springers are very bad for pulling so you are not on your own.
